All exit and emergency lights must be tested every 6 months to ensure they illuminate via battery backup power for a duration that would allow occupants to exit a building safely in the case of a power outage (a minimum of 90 minutes in Australia). The results of the duration test, any defects/non-conformances and maintenance history shall be recorded in a paper or digital log book. According to the Australian Standard AS 3760, the time between testing and tagging is based on the type of environment in which the appliance is located. Every 3 months: Construction, building & demolition. Every 6 months: Factories, Production, Warehouse. 1 Year: Schools, Offices. 3Phase appliances should be tested be tested under the same guidelines. RCD's - 1 Year(monthly push button test recommended)
